14 January 2019, 15:32
The BRIT Awards 2019 nominations have been announced and we've picked out the favourites from the list.
The nominations are out for this year's BRIT Awards with Anne-Marie and Dua Lipa leading the way.
The British stars have four nominations each, going head-to-head for British Single and British Video.
> Dua Lipa has landed her own figure at Madame Tussauds London
The awards will take place on Wednesday 20th February and are being hosted again this year by Jack Whitehall.
Here are the full list of nominees and our predictions for who might win each category.
British Album of the Year
• The 1975 - A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships
• Anne-Marie - Speak Your Mind
• Florence + The Machine - High As Hope
• George Ezra - Staying At Tamara's
• Jorja Smith - Lost & Found
Prediction: The 1975 - A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships
British Album is one of the biggest awards of the night and Matt Healy's The 1975 are surely favourites to walk away with the prize after their latest album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships received huge acclaim from critics.
British Female Solo Artist
• Anne-Marie
• Florence + The Machine
• Jess Glynne
• Jorja Smith
• Lily Allen
Prediction: Anne-Marie
Anne-Marie's up for four awards and we think this is the one she's got the best chance of winning. All the artists in this category have had a fantastic year but it's Anne-Marie who's probably made the biggest impact on the world stage.
British Male Solo Artist
• Aphex Twin
• Craig David
• George Ezra
• Giggs
• Sam Smith
Prediction: George Ezra
George Ezra's had his best year ever with the release of his second album Staying At Tamara's, featuring hit singles 'Shotgun' and 'Paradise'. In terms of success, it puts him well ahead of his contemporaries in this category.
British Group
• The 1975
• Arctic Monkeys
• Gorillaz
• Little Mix
• Years & Years
Prediction: The 1975
The 1975 could be one of the biggest winners at this year's BRITs. We think they've got the edge in the British Group category over Arctic Monkeys, Gorillaz and Years & Years... though Little Mix could steal the trophy.
British Breakthrough Act
• Ella Mai
• Idles
• Jorja Smith
• Mabel
• Tom Walker
Prediction: Jorja Smith
A year ago Jorja collected the BRITs Critics' Choice Award and twelve months on she's up for three more awards, following the release of her debut album Lost & Found. We think this category is the one Jorja's most likely to win.
British Single
• Anne-Marie - 2002
• Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa - One Kiss
• Clean Bandit ft Demi Lovato - Solo
• Dua Lipa - IDGAF
• George Ezra - Shotgun
• Jess Glynne - I'll Be There
• RAMZ - Barking
• Rudimental - These Days
• Sigala and Paloma Faith - Lullaby
• Tom Walker - Leave A Light On
Prediction: Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa - One Kiss
Another of the big awards is the one for British Single. The nominees have all spent weeks and weeks in The Official Big Top 40 but we think that Calvin's 'One Kiss' has the advantage, having been named as the biggest song of 2018.
British Video
• Anne-Marie - 2002
• Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa - One Kiss
• Clean Bandit ft Demi Lovato - Solo
• Dua Lipa - IDGAF
• Jax Jones ft Ina Wroldsen - Breathe
• Jonas Blue ft Jack & Jack - Rise
• Liam Payne and Rita Ora - For You
• Little Mix ft Nicki Minaj - Woman Like Me
• Rita Ora - Let Me Love You
• Rudimental - These Days
Prediction: Liam Payne and Rita Ora - For You
This category is voted for by fans and so it's always bound to go to an artist with a huge fanbase. One Direction star Liam Payne is likely to call upon his 32.5 million Twitter followers to clinch the award for his Rita Ora collab 'For You'.
International Male Solo Artist
• Drake
• Eminem
• Kamasi Washington
• Shawn Mendes
• Travis Scott
Prediction: Travis Scott
Travis Scott's Astroworld was ranked highly in a whole load of music publication's end of year album lists. The American rapper probably has the edge over the other international male artists in this category.
International Female Solo Artist
• Ariana Grande
• Camila Cabello
• Cardi B
• Christine & The Queens
• Janelle Monae
Prediction: Ariana Grande
It's undoubtedly another very strong category but 2018 was the year of Ariana Grande. She released her Sweetener album in the summer and has already moved on to the follow-up, releasing its lead single 'thank u, next' in November.
International Group
• Brockhampton
• The Carters
• First Aid Kit
• Nile Rodgers & Chic
• Twenty One Pilots
Prediction: First Aid Kit
It's a tough call for who's most likely to walk away with International Group at this year's BRITs. We've opted for Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit, who were previously nominated in the category back in 2015.
